The human rights activist Mr. Mabior Morrise Awijiok had fled out in South Sudan, his homeland two years ago to Kenya-Nairobi. On February 4th, 2023, he was kidnapped by South Sudan’s national security service in connection with Interpol Kenya Police.

As we are monitoring the human rights activist Morris’ situation in jail and recently learned of his dire health condition in prison. He was denied access to medical treatment by the government perpetrators.

This is an unlawful act for the responsible government who has violated the prisoners’ rights of health.
Therefore, Activist Luk among others human rights activists urge the South Sudan government of Revitalized transitional Government of National Unity of the Republic of South Sudan (RTGo-NU) to uphold the provisions of the South Sudan Constitution mandate and international law on freedom of expression.

It should be noted that the criminalisation and false accusation news against Morris Mabior is a violation of freedom of expression that is protected under article 24 of South Sudan’s Constitution and international law instruments ratified by human rights commission including the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.

Further, we are aware of our country’s political history and lack of constitutional responsibilities to contribute constructively to the cause of lasting peace in this homeland.

We are determined to join hands as youth of South Sudan and with our brothers and sisters in the rest of our country with the aim to assume our rightful protest in Juba. As a society, we have a responsibility to discharge our rights as informed, aw-abiding citizens in contributing the call to free human rights Activist Mr. Morris Mabior. Who has been in prison for 15 months experiencing dire health conditions with no access to medical treatment.
